Ivy's fragile, little body cringed at the extraordinary yet frightful dream she had the night before. She didn't know how to comprehend considering the fact she never experienced something so surreal. Even though Ivy didn't want to leave her uncomfortable yet snug bed, she forced herself up and dragged her body to the bathroom. She jumped onto the bathroom counter and stared at herself in the mirror. Ivy couldn't get the vision of a mansion being brought down in flames out of her head. Ivy may not have figured out what her dream meant right away but she wasn't a fool.
When Ivy changed into a dark gray night gown, she walked down the unstable wood stairs and into a hallway that lead to the kitchen. The kitchen was always full, since at least one hundred kids lived in the adoption center. Now, Ivy never paid attention to the guys in the center since she was never interested in anything anybody had to say or offer to her, but a boy that seemed to be about three years older than her stared at her for a good five minutes. Ivy didn't know if she should feel uncomfortable or intrigued, but after a second, he left out of the kitchen. Ivy ran over to the eating tables and ate her apple. The tables were always so quiet, no one ever said a word, not even a look into each others eyes. Ivy couldn't take the tension, so she just left. She ran back upstairs to her room and closed the door, only turning around to lean on it. She lifted her head up and looked at her bed perfectly made and her diary and pen to be sitting on her pillow.
Ivy knew for a fact that she didn't do that before she left for the kitchen, and no one in her dorm ever really talked to her, so her mind went blank, but she was also quite grateful for this gesture since no one ever took the time to do that before. She smiled to herself slightly, but snapped herself back into reality. Ivy just sat on the floor since her bed looked so neat. The floor was cold but she didn't mind since her mind was being taken over by flashbacks of that dream. She just couldn't seem to connect the dots. Meadow. Houses. Fire. It didn't make sense. Ivy wasn't the one that would just forget something in an instant, she would find something. A missing puzzle piece even. Something that would send jolts to her mind and boost the images in her head to make any connections. Ivy was determined to figure out what that dream meant, and she won't stop until she does.
